Compress PDF to 20KB

A few portals accept nothing above 20 KB. Add your PDF and we see how close it can get: pictures are compressed hard first, and if that is not enough you can choose to turn pages into images, at the cost of selectable text.

Easy Instructions

How to Use Compress PDF to 20KB in 3 Simple Steps

  1. 01 —

    Add your PDF

Choose a PDF up to 100 MB. If it is already 20 KB or less, it is returned untouched.

  2. 02 —

    Let the tool squeeze it

It compresses the embedded pictures as hard as it sensibly can while leaving text as text. If the file is still above 20 KB, you are offered an optional extra step.

  3. 03 —

    Decide and download

You see the final size next to the 20 KB target. The extra step converts each page to a small image to reach the target, so text can no longer be selected or searched. It only runs if you choose it.

Core Advantages

Why Use QuickFileTools for Compress PDF to 20KB?

Honest about a very small target

20 KB is tiny. The tool tells you plainly whether it was reached and shows the smallest size it achieved when it was not.

Text stays text by default

The first pass only recompresses embedded pictures. Converting pages to images happens only when you ask for it.

An opt-in last resort

For a one- or two-page document that cannot otherwise fit, converting pages to low-resolution images can reach 20 KB. You decide whether that trade is acceptable.

Never makes the file bigger

If compression cannot shrink the file, you get your original back. The size you see is the size you download.

Where a 20 KB PDF limit turns up

Limits this small are rare and usually belong to older systems.

Single-page declarations and forms

Some registration portals accept one short page, such as a signed declaration or a form, but only if it is about 20 KB or less.

Signature or ID pages

A single scanned page of identification can be reduced to a small grayscale image of text, which is often enough for a verification field.

Messaging on weak connections

A 20 KB file sends almost instantly on a poor mobile signal, which helps when you are sending one page to be read, not printed.

Systems with tiny database fields

Some internal tools store attachments in small fields. If they reject anything larger, a page reduced to 20 KB may be the only option.

If your PDF will not fit in 20 KB

The honest answer depends on how many pages the file has and what is on them.

The result is still above 20 KB
Pages with photographs, many pages, or large embedded fonts can have a floor above 20 KB. Remove pages you do not need, scan a single page, or ask whether the portal accepts 50 KB or 100 KB.
I do not want my text turned into pictures
Then do not use the extra step. Without it, text and vector content stay untouched, but a file with a lot of content may not reach 20 KB. Try the 50 KB or 100 KB version of this tool.
The page looks rough after the extra step
Reaching 20 KB with images means very low resolution and grayscale. If it is hard to read, split the document into single pages or use a higher target.
I get an error instead of a result
This page needs our server, which handles files up to 100 MB. If it is busy or unreachable you will see a message; try again in a moment. Your file is deleted as soon as the result is returned.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can any PDF be compressed to 20 KB?
No. A short, mostly text document sometimes can. Anything with several pages or photographs usually cannot, because 20 KB leaves only a few kilobytes per page. When it cannot be reached you are told, and you get the smallest version possible.
What does the extra "make it smaller anyway" step do?
It renders each page as a small image and puts those images in a new PDF. That can get a short document under the limit, but the text is then part of a picture, so it can no longer be selected, copied or searched. It only runs when you choose it.
Will my text stay selectable?
Yes, unless you choose the extra step. The default pass leaves text and vector graphics alone and only recompresses embedded pictures.
Can I get exactly 20 KB?
No. The aim is the best result at or under 20 KB, so it usually lands a little below. An exact size is not something this method can promise.
Is there a file size limit and is my file kept?
PDFs up to 100 MB are accepted. The file is sent over an encrypted connection, compressed on our server, and deleted as soon as the result is returned. We keep no copy.
