How does "Page X of Y" work in Word?
It combines two fields: PAGE for the current page and NUMPAGES for the total. The tool inserts both for you.
Why does the total include the cover page?
NUMPAGES always counts every page in the document. If the cover is not numbered, the second page shows "Page 1 of 10" in a 10-page file.
Can I change the wording or language?

The total looks wrong in my viewer. Why?
